Economic Development in India/

Taken in the Sivaganga District in Tamil Nadu, India with a self-help group of women who are involved in roof & wall thatch production as a means of self employment and economic development. The women make roofs, walls, brooms and hand fans out of coconut leaves and sell them at weekly markets in nearby towns.  They have received support from the Presbyterian Church (USA) Committee on the Self Development of People (SDOP) via the Development Promotion Group (DPG) - a local NGO in southern india.  Cornelius Blanding, the Federation's Director of Field Operations and Special Projects, serves as chair of the International Committee of SDOP.
