USDA Secretary Edward Schafer to Address Federation/LAF Membership on August 15, 2008

Epes, Alabama …On August 15, 2008, the United States Department of Agriculture Secretary Edward Schafer (pictured above) will address the membership of the Federation of Southern Cooperatives/Land Assistance Fund’s at the organization’s Rural Training and Research Center in Epes, Alabama.
“We are pleased the Secretary will speak with our membership,” said Ralph Paige, Executive Director. “With the new Farm Bill passed in 2008 there is considerable interest on the part of the African American farming community for programs that will assist them and other family farmers across the country. They will be interested in hearing from the Secretary about these and other USDA issues and programs.”
Mr. Schafer will we speaking in the early afternoon on Friday, August 15.
The Federation of Southern Cooperatives/land Assistance Fund’s Training & Research Center is located in west Alabama off I-20, 5 miles north of the Epes, Alabama Post Office on Sumter County Road 21.
